Joan K. Klemme, 79, of West Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at her home.

Born into the loving family of Late Francis K. and Lillian E.  (Goodman) Klemme on October 23, 1943, in Lafayette.

Joan was a 1961 graduate of Freeland Park High School and continued her education at the Comptometer School in Indianapolis where she received her Certificate of Graduation. Following graduation, she began her long and faithful career at Purdue University.  She held numerous jobs at Purdue throughout her career until she made the decision to resign and become a fulltime caregiver for her mother.

Joan was a loyal parishioner at St. Charles Catholic Church in Ottebein and St Ann Catholic Church in Lafayette where she was a devoted volunteer for 30 years. She was a friend to priests and prisoners alike.

Joan is survived by her 3 brothers, Leo (Kay), Dan (Diane), and Father Bob; 2 sisters, Rose and Helen; 9 nephews and nieces; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Lilliam Klemme; and brother-in-law, Butch Meyers.

She was dearly loved by her family members and remembered for her humor and forgiveness. She was always ready to party, laugh, and enjoy family and friends.

Even though her health issues plagued her the last few years, she remained upbeat, strong in her beliefs, and faithful to her religious conviction.

Memorial contributions may be given in Joan’s name to Charity of Donor’s Choice.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 4, 2023, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 109 N. Meadow St., Otterbein.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm, St. John’s Baptist Cemetery in Earl Park, IN.
