Jimmy Bryan Edwards Jr., 52, of Lafayette and formerly of New Castle, passed away December 28, 2012 unexpectedly due to causes related to an early morning fire at his residence which also claimed the life of his dog, Ozzy. He was born July 28th, 1960 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Jimmy B. Edwards Sr. and the mother he adored, Effie Charlene (Rains) Edwards, who survives and resides in New Castle. Jimmy was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and enjoyed all genres of music. He loved his children, animals, and loved to laugh. Jimmy was one to lend a hand to anyone in need. In 2006, Jimmy was the Father of the Year recipient. He is loved and will be missed by his large family and his extended family in the Lafayette area. In addition to his mother, Jimmy is survived by three children: Tanner Mullins of Lafayette; his daughter and mother of his much beloved grandsons: Aaron (husband: Brad) Plunkett Gibbs of West Lafayette; and Kyle Plunkett of WI; his brother: Mark (wife: Tina) Edwards of New Castle and four sisters: Kathy Edwards of New Castle; Barbara (husband: JR) Lewis of Mooreland; Lola Alley of Straughn; and Mary Edwards of New Castle; brother-in-law: Raymond Lowery of New Castle; A special friend and roommate for several years: James “Noodle” Taylor of Lafayette; second mother: Phyllis Shoalt of Lafayette. In addition to his father, Jimmy is preceded in death by his sister: Cheryl Lowery; brother-in-law: Terry Alley; and niece: Jamie Marie Edwards. Friends will be received from 10-12 noon at which time friends are asked to share a memory of Jimmy on Friday, January 4, 2012 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Memorial contribution may be given to Natalie's second chance animal shelter.
