James Ray Meacham, 83, of Lafayette, died at 08:32 AM Sunday, December 6, 2015 at IU Arnett Hospital. He was born August 16, 1932, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Raymond and Gladys Meacham. He graduated from Montmorenci High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force from February 27, 1952 to February 26, 1956. On May 26,1978 he married Millie Stingle in Pine Village. Jim worked at Biggs Pump and Supply for 44 years before retiring as a purchasing Agent. After retirement he enjoyed working at Bennett’s Greenhouse. He was a member of Grace United Methodist and liked watching sports, especially the Cubs. Survivors include his wife, Millie Meacham of Lafayette, children, Kathy Skannal (husband John) of Austin, TX, Sharon Blomquist (husband Orjan) of Cedar Park, TX, Carol McArthur (husband Steven) of Austin, TX, and David Meacham (wife Robin) of Pflugerville, TX, stepchildren Mike Strugeon (wife Connie) of Kokomo, and Margie Stetler (husband Larry) of Lafayette. Jim’s grandchildren include Sarah, Joshua, and Emily McArthur, Michael (wife Anna), Justin, and Tyler Meacham, step grandchildren, Courtney, Shelby, and Brittany Sturgeon, Erica York, Ashley (husband Aaron) McNeal, Ryan Stetler (wife Rebecca), great grandchildren Hayden and Hudson Meacham, Addison Myers, and Jaxon Stetler, and step great grandchildren Ryan Prate and Selena Siena-Murillo. Also surviving is his sister Linda Benett (Gary) of West Lafayette. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bob and Bill Meacham, and an infant sister, Mary Frances Meacham. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM Wednesday and the funeral service will be Thursday at 1:30 PM both at the Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Pastor Larry Johnson will be officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
