Jerry L. Robinson, 65, of Lafayette, died at 9:10 AM Friday, May 6, 2011 at Indiana University Health.
He was born June 29, 1945, in Lafayette, to the late James Kendrick and Vina B. Kressley Robinson.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from January 27, 1966 to January 26, 1970 serving in the 3rd Recon Battalion in Viet Nam where he was awarded two Purple Hearts.
He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1963 and Purdue University with Distinction.
On 05/05/1989 he married Alice Dalrymple in Frankfort and she survives.
He worked for Vectren (formerly Indiana Gas Co. ) for 36 years, retiring in 2008. He worked in various management positions with Vectren in Lafayette, Crawfordsville, Frankfort, Lebanon and Noblesville. While in Frankfort he served on the Frankfort Airport Authority Board and the Utility Service Board.
He was a member of the Navy Club, Ship 12, where he was a Junior Executive Officer and a Director, American Legion Post 11, Marine Corps League, Disabled American Veterans, The Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Eagles Lodge Aerie #347 and the 40&8. He enjoyed vacationing many years at Sanibel Island, FL.
He loved his two dogs Sammie and Buddy.
Surviving along with his wife are two daughters Carrie Ransom (husband Mark) of Lebanon,
Kimberly Robinson (husband Casey Bilger) of Phoenix, AZ and a sister Mary Lou Robinson of Lafayette.
Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Marli and Janie Ransom and Isabella “”The Tink”” Robinson Bilger.
He is preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Kendrick Ransom, 2 brothers Jack K. and Walter Joseph Robinson.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm Tuesday, May 10, 2011 with a Navy Club Ship 12 service at 7:00 pm at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 11, 2011 with American Legion Post 11 rights at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette, IN 47909 with Rev. David Patrick officiating.
