Jeffrey D. Phillips, 57, of West Lafayette passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 8, 1958, in Anderson to Lois Mahan Phillips of Anderson and the late Jack Phillips. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1976 and received his Masters Degree from Purdue University. On May 9, 1981 he married Christy Newby in Anderson and she survives. Jeff was the Tippecanoe County Agriculture Extension Educator for Purdue University for 32 years and retired in 2014. He was a member of First Assembly Community Ministries and was the coordinator for the Master Gardener Program for Tippecanoe County. Jeff was the drummer of the Atlanta Music Hall Band for 25 years. He was active in Tippecanoe County 4-H program and the Community Gardens. He was very dedicated to his family and friends. Surviving along with his wife are his children Jackson P. Phillips (Julie) of Raleigh, NC, Jordan C. Kaelin (Daniel) of Muncie, Jonathon S. Phillips of Lafayette, Jada M. Phillips of West Lafayette, grandchildren James and Jack Phillips. Also survivng is his brother Mike Phillips (Teresa) of Tucson, AZ. Jeff was preceded in death by his brother Jim Phillips. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service celebrating his life at 2:00 pm on Saturday at First Assembly Community Ministries in Lafayette, Pastor Robby Bradford officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
