Jeannette “Jean” McKnight, 81, of Lafayette passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at St. Mary Healthcare Center. She was born November 16, 1932, in England, to the late George and Edith Locke Smith. On May 1, 1954 she married the love of her life Roy McKnight in England and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2012. Jeannette was a master at gardening, creating a paradise where ever her family lived. She was an excellent interior decorator, fantastic cook, a big Cubs Fan, and an even bigger animal lover. She was the loving mother of Lynda Carter (Larry)of West Lafayette, Curtis McKnight (Jane) of Monitcello and Nana to Ryan (Megan) Colburn, Courtney Brankle (Companion Russ Wegner), Greg (Katy) McKnight, Sean McKnight, step granddaughter Julie Whitaker and 8 great grandchildren. Jeannnette was preceded in death by a grandson Brandon McKnight, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to a 2 PM service Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Those wishing may contribute to the Alzheimer's Association, Almost Home Humane Society and Natalie's Second Chance in Jeannette's memory.
