Jay Everett Summers Sr., went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette.
He was born February 21, 1933, at his home in White County to the late Jacob E. and Katherine (Taylor) Summers. Jay lived most of his life in the Shadeland area and was a graduate of West Point High School. Jay was a United States Army veteran, serving honorably from September 1953 – September 1955. On June 25, 1965, he married Carol L. Keller in Seattle, WA and she survives. He worked until his retirement for Rea Magnet Wire and enjoyed farming from a young age.
Jay’s faith was very important to him, attending Star City Church, he prayed daily for those who didn’t know the Lord.
Along with his wife Carol of 60 years, he is survived by his 4 daughters, Linda Pruett, Barb Patterson, Laura Summers, and Anjie (Jerry) Kerkhoff; 6 grandchildren, Preston, Kyla, Tara, Cory, Savannah, and Haley; many great and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Katherine Summers and his 3 sons, Vic, Jay Jr., and Jim.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Pastor Eddie Robinson III of Star City Church officiating.
Entombment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 1200 Sagamore Parkway North, Lafayette, IN 47904.
