James “Jim” R. Elkins Jr., 57, of Romney, IN died at 8:30 PM Sunday, August 16, 2015, at his residence. He was born November 8, 1957, in El Paso, TX, to the late James R. Elkins Sr. and Eloise Hager Elkins. James graduated from Ysleta High School in El Paso, TX and attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he studied Mechanical Engineering. On December 17, 1978, he married Vicki L. Cornell. James was an Integration Engineer for Runbeck Elections Services. He enjoyed woodworking, computers, ballroom dancing, and spending time with his family, friends, dogs Peewee and Amber, and working on his 1984 Jaguar. Surviving are Wife – Vicki Elkins of Romney, Sons – James R. Elkins III (spouse Laura) of Bargersville, Jonathan V. Elkins (spouse Ashley) of Lafayette, Grandson – James E. Elkins of Bargersville, Sisters-in-law – Lori Pickett (spouse Dan) of Crawfordsville, Natalie Griswald (spouse Pat) of Lafayette, Mitzi Siler of Dayton. Preceded in death by his parents, Mother-in-law – June Chapman, Sister-in-law – Bobbi Siler. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 11:30 AM Friday at the Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with Fr. Eric Underwood officiating. Private inurnment at Elmwood Cemetery in Romney, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the American Cancer Society and Almost Home Humane Society.
