James Michael “Mike” Davis, 72, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Indiana Veterans Home after a 7-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s.
He was born November 12, 1950, in Columbus, IN, to the late James Davis and Esther Odle Jarrard.
James attended Lafayette Jefferson High School and soon decided to join the Navy serving on the USS Hancock in the Pacific Ocean.
in June, 1993, he married Jacquelyn S.”Susie” Leak in Lafayette at Grace United Methodist Church and she survives.
Through his years Mike worked at GLPTC, Craig’s 76 Station and was an exterminator for Reliable Exterminators. A great enjoyment of his was being a proud owner of his own mobile DJ service called “Mad Dog” DJ Service, playing for weddings, parties of all kinds and community events. His joy was music, books ,reading his bible and his four legged companions, his dogs.
Mike was sure to be at all the family gatherings and functions he could, laughing, joking and sharing his love of life with all.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are wife, Susie, his mother Esther Jarrard, his children, Marta Lewis, stepsons, Michael Anderson, Stuart (Tara) Anderson, sisters, Beverly (Valerie) Davis, Karen (Frank) Pickett, grandchildren, Aubrey Lewis, Luke Anderson, Catherine Anderson, Reid Anderson, Mia Anderson and Brie Anderson.
James was preceded in death by his father James Davis.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday at Grace United Methodist Church 615 North 22nd Street Lafayette.
Service will be at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Grace United Methodist Church 615 North 22nd Street Lafayette, Rev. Chris Newman-Jacobs officiating.
