James D. Richey, 78, of West Lafayette, died at 9:55 PM Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Indiana University Health Arnett.
He was born December 24, 1932, in Galesburg, IL, to the late James and Ethel Murk Richey.
He served in the United States Army from November 8, 1951 to February 25, 1953.
On October 17, 1954 he married Marilyn Wagle in Peoria, IL and she survives.
He had worked as an electrician his entire adult life working for National Homes, Purdue University and as an independent contractor before retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lafayette Cloud Jockeys and enjoyed flying model airplanes, fishing and gardening.
Surviving along with his wife are three daughters Sharon J. Morrisette (husband Fred) of Longview, IL,
Kai Lynch (husband Dale) of Arroyo Grande, CA, Cindy Anderson (husband Jim) of West Lafayette; a son
Scott D. Richey (wife Linda) of Rossville and a sister Ann Platt (husband Robert) of Haines City, FL.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Daniel and William Richey.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the 11:00 am service Friday, October 14, 2011 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel 1184 Sagamore Parkway W. West Lafayette, IN 47906 with Rev. Linda Dolby officiating. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.

My sincere condolences to all at the passing of a wonderful person.

I called on Jim to help redo my kitchen some years ago. He did such a splendid
job that it still looks like new. I have so enjoyed the transformation he did on that space that to this day, I still marvel at how well it turned out. He was a careful, thoughtful worker and did everything to perfection. I am glad to have know him and will continue to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
