James Albert Haynes Jr, 84, of Lafayette, passed away at 10:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Creasy Springs Health Campus. James Albert Haynes Jr, 84, of Lafayette, passed away at 10:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Creasy Springs Health Campus. He was born July 30, 1931, in New Richmond, to the late James Albert Haynes Sr and Nancy McCoy Hollis. On May 26, 1950 he married Judith E. Clark in Lafayette and she survives. James owned J&R Bulk Transport, Inc. for 15 years and also worked for Fairfield Builders for eight years and Brown Rubber Co for ten years. James served as Past Master of the Dayton Masonic Lodge and was a member of Murat Temple, Scottish Rite and a Charter member of Tippecanoe Shrine Club. Surviving along with his wife are three daughters, Nancy (Hurshel) Norton of Darlington, Sharon (Philip) Crutchfield of Frankfort and Shirley (Levi) Bennett of Attica; two sisters, Linda Halsema of Lafayette and Suann Strole of West Lafayette. Also surving are seven grandchildren, Kelly Mekos, James (Jessica) Mekos, Marcus Mekos, Ashley Newton, Andy (Tammy) Newton, Emily Bennett and Natalie Bennett along with seven great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by a grandson Joseph Griswold and a brother Dana Haynes. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Those wishing may contribute in James’ name to the American Diabetes Association.
