Ida Cohen passed away early Saturday at Westminster Village amid a booming thunderstorm, a tribute to her strength and fortitude. She was 95.
Ida, or “Babe” as her siblings called her, lived a life of quiet determination. She was an active member of Temple Israel, serving on the temple’s Sisterhood and in Hadassah. She was beloved by her late husband, Izzy, and became a loyal Purdue sports fan, accompanying him to many Purdue sporting events.
Ida was an avid newspaper reader. She fully completed two crossword puzzles a day (in pen).
She will be missed by her two daughters, Sandy Cohen Berger and Debbie Azen; two sons-in-law, Lenny Berger and Art Azen; four grandchildren, Erin, Hannah, Stephanie and Mike; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Lily.
Donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice Franciscan Health in Lafayette or the charity of one’s choice.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday July 23, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Temple Israel, Officiating Rabbi Michael E. Harvey.
