Helen K. Sturm

Helen K. (Schwanberger) Sturm, 105, of West Lafayette, IN, passed away on June 21, 2026. She was born at Home Hospital in Lafayette, IN to the late Eli and Anna (Beutler) Schwamberger. Helen graduated from Otterbein High School in 1939. On April 16, 1943, she married Ted E. Sturm at the home of the bride’s parents in Otterbein, IN. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2001.

Helen attended Indiana Business College and worked at Purdue University AG Extension as well as West Lafayette High School where she retired in 1983. She was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church and First United Methodist church of Harvey, IL where she was president of the United Methodist Women. She and Ted traveled the United States and belonged to a camping club. She also enjoyed word puzzles and Purdue University men’s football and basketball games.

Surviving is her daughter, Donna K. Sturm of West Lafayette, IN. Her extended family, Dr. Jay and Mary Albretsen and family. Helen was preceded in death by her sisters, Maxine Schwamberger and Ruth Marie Widmer, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Dr. Roy A. Sturm and Geneva M. Sedam Sturm.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel. A service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens following the service.
