Helen Elizabeth Crane, 88 of West Lafayette, IN died at 12:18 PM Saturday February 6, 2016 at Westminster Health Care.
She was born May 24, 1927 in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada, to the late Ibra and Nathalie Thompson Conners.
Helen attended Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa, Canada; Smith College in Northampton, MA where she received her BA; and Iowa State University in Ames, IA where she received her MS.
She married Paul L Crane on July 7, 1951. Paul passed away on Nov 12, 1996.
Helen served in many capacities as a member of Federated Church in West Lafayette, IN since its inception. She was an active member of Church Women United. She received the Valiant Woman Award for her 40 years of volunteer service at their Food Pantry. Helen was also a member of the Embroiderer's Guild, American Literature Club, Art Club, and Travel Club. She volunteered her services at Westminster Village including the United Way.
She enjoyed traveling worldwide, creating needle art and other media, attending the symphony and Purdue Women's Basketball games.
Loving mother to; son, Kenneth L Crane (Karen) of West Lafayette, IN, daughter, Nancy L Gardner (Ronald) of Lansing, NY, and daughter, Ruth G Diebold (Stephen) of Cumming, GA, Helen was also a devoted grandmother to 9, and great-grandmother to 9.
A Memorial Service will be held at Federated Church, Thursday, Feb. 11 at 11:30. The burial will be a private service at Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be given to Federated Church.
