Harold Gordon Treida, 85, of Lafayette passed away at 11:57 am, Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Creasy Springs Health Campus, Lafayette.
He was born May 15, 1932 in Tippecanoe County on the family farm to the late Urban W. and Dorothy L. (Underhill) Treida. He graduated from Buck Creek High School where he was a star basketball player. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Bette J. Felix on August 19, 1950. Bette preceded Harold in death on February 13, 2016.
He worked and retired from Eli Lilly after 34 faithful years of service and was a member of the United Methodist Church, attending Heritage and Dayton UMC. Harold was also a former member of Battle Ground Lodge # 313, Free and Accepted Masons.
Harold loved farming, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed camping and traveling and taking cruises with Bette. Time with family was very important to Harold, especially time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harold and Bette were faithfully in attendance at their grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his 4 children, Norman H. (Glenda) Treida of Flower Mound, TX, Darla K. (Douglas) Fall of West Lafayette, Sandra L. (Charles) Greeley of Lafayette, and Steven L. (Rita) Treida of West Lafayette; 9 grandchildren, Erika (Trey), Matthew (Valery), Christopher (Ellen), Ashley (Ron), Laura, Gregory (Mary), Grant (Megan), Jason, Dustin (Jamie); 9 great-grandchildren, Leyton, Lucy, Noah, Owen, Kai, Emerson, Brylon, Theodore, and Ellena; and also, 3 siblings, Mildred Callahan, George (Kay) Treida, and Urban Treida Jr.
Along with his wife Bette and his parents, he was preceded by his sister and brother-in-law, Maxine Brandt and her husband, James Brandt; brother-in-law, Thomas Callahan; and sister-in-law, Gayle Treida.
Memorial contributions in Harold’s name may be given to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette with Pastor Earl Owen officiating.
Entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 West 350 North, West Lafayette.
