Hannah Leah Rubinstein, 55, was born in 1964 with severe brain damage. She was profoundly mentally disabled, walked with a walker, and had never spoken a word. She had a sweet disposition and simple desires. She derived great enjoyment by manipulating a portable electronic keyboard from which she apparently heard wonderful music. The process of discovering the nature of her disabilities, being creative about working with them, dealing with new family interactions was distressing and heart-rending, but also at times joyful. Her adulthood was spent in a wonderful group home in Lafayette with several other disabled adults in a pleasant house with a family atmosphere managed by loving capable employees of a group home management company. We have felt very fortunate that she was getting such good care. A private family service will be held.
