Gregory John Mitchell, 67, of Lafayette died at home, Friday, April 12, 2019.
He was born August 29, 1951 in Chicago, IL. He was raised by his parents, John and Catherine Mitchell and graduated from Mendel Catholic Boys School, Chicago, IL. Gregory was a United States Army Veteran and a retired Steelworker with the Carpenter’s Union. He was a member of American Legion Post #492 and the VFW.
Greg loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was the best cook! He was very intelligent and enjoyed writing poetry, dabbing in the stock market, the lottery, and politics. He was known as “3-eyes” to his friends in reference to his signature tattoo. He cherished the time spent with his children and his grandchildren.
He is survived by 2 children, Anthony “Tony” (Kim) Mitchell of Mantua, NJ, Brandee (Jay) Mason of Lafayette; 5 grandchildren, AJ and Alexa Mitchell, Jade (Mark) Atkinson, Atreyu and Rosie Mason; 3 great-grandchildren, Anabelle, Izabella, and Oliver Atkinson; a sister, Tere (PJ) Porento of Lowell; nephew and Godson, PJ Jr. (Julie) of Lowell; 2 nieces, Katie (Corey) of Lowell and Jill (Kevin) of Highland; 4 Great Nephews and Nieces, Kylie, Reagan, Keegan (Antcliff), Nolan (Higgins), an uncle, Raymond Mitchell; and best friend “little brother” Ty Sanders of Fl.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Catherine Mitchell, his Uncle Ronald Mitchell, Uncle Lawrence and Great Nephew Zachary.
A memorial service will be held at American Legion Post 492 in Lafayette, Indiana at 1pm on Friday April 19th.
