Gordon E. (Gordie) Richeson, 84, of West Lafayette died at 9:21 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 in his home. He was born June 24, 1929 in Lafayette to the late Lionel and Audrey Mater Richeson. He was a 1947 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School where he participated in varsity basketball and track. He attended Purdue University. On August 26, 1950 he married Elynor Y. Erb. They were married 62 years until she passed away on May 15, 2013. Gordon was employed by ALCOA Aluminum in the Tool & Die Design Dept. for over 43 years. He was a long-time member of Saint James Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee and congregational president. Most recently he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served as an elder. He was active in Boy Scouting. He served as Scout Master for Saint James Troop #33 and led a troop to Philmont Scout Ranch in 1967. Gordon enjoyed golf, bowling, and traveling, and drove for Meals on Wheels. Surviving are five sons: Mark Richeson (Stephanie), Lafayette, Todd Richeson (Jacqueline), West Lafayette, Dirk Richeson (Sandra), Lafayette, Cole Richeson (Debbie), Woodburn, IN, and Kurt Richeson (Susan), Culver, IN. Also surviving are a sister, Cheryl Ann Richeson, Lafayette; twelve grand children–Burke Richeson, Danya Kennedy (Brian), Brant Richeson (Tara), Shay Wilson (Dave), Griffin Richeson, Judd Richeson (Jacquie), Chad Richeson, Carlie Allgeier (Josh), Eric Richeson (Lauren), Graham Richeson, and Celia Richeson; along with three great grand children–Coltyn Richeson, Lainey Richeson, and Zaiden Allgeier. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elynor; a brother, Norman Dean Richeson; and a grandson, Landon Richeson.Visitation will be 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, 102 Buckingham Dr., Lafayette, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Pastor Edwin Morrow officiating. Burial will be at Meadow View Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
