Gerrie Lamberson (nee Staat) passed away on May 5, 2020 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was born on November 3, 1942 to the late Harland and Geraldine Staat. Gerrie was born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio, before marrying and moving to Chicago where she lived for 27 years. She eventually returned to Cincinnati in 1994 where she remained until 2016, when she relocated to Chesterton, Indiana to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren.
Gerrie was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her daughters and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She also adored her beloved dog Abigail, who her family often teased was the favorite child of the family. She had a vivacious personality and always made people smile. Her smile could truly light up a room. She made friends everywhere she went. She was a true joy to be around and was loved by all who knew her.
During her life, Gerrie worked for Ryerson Steel, Associated Data Services and most recently Chase Doors, before her retirement in 2014. It was at Chase Doors that Gerrie made many wonderful friends, who she remained close to until her death.
Gerrie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who is survived by her daughter Lorrie Hopp and husband Greg, daughter Shannon Richmond and husband John, Grandchildren Kaitlyn and Madison Hopp, Ryan Kendall and John Richmond; Eugene Lamberson; her sister Constance Powell, her brother Steven Staat and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her brothers Paul, Michael and Timothy Staat. All of whom she loved deeply.
Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Given the Covid Pandemic, a private service will be held for immediate family. As life returns to normal, her family will plan to host a memorial to celebrate her life in Cincinnati. You may sign the guest book and leave memories at www.soller-baker.com
