Gerald J. “Senator” Farrell Jr, 55, of Lafayette, died at 4:23 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at St. Elizabeth East. He was born December 20, 1956, in Lafayette, to the late Catherine Haney Farrell and Gerald J. Farrell Sr of Lafayette. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1975 and Vincennes University in 1979. Gerald has been a sales associate at Walmart the past 12 years. On December 12, 1998, he married Diana Hedden in Lafayette and she survives. Gerald attended St. Mary Cathedral, was an Eagle Scout and a Notre Dame sports fan. Surviving along with his wife, Diana and father, Gerald (wife: Donna) are two step-daughters, Amanda Sue Swartz (husband: Craig), of Grovetown, Ga., Amy Marie Sparger, of Lafayette; a brother, Timothy Farrell (wife: Kay), of Lafayette; a niece, Lindsey and a nephew, Casey; four grandchildren, Dru, Brayden, Mason and Elise. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham boulevard Lafayette, IN 47909; Pastor Randy Griffith and Fr. Dan Gartland officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
