George W. “Bill” Woodruff, 75, of West Lafayette, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Franciscian Health. He was born March 11, 1942, in Lafayette, to the late Clyde and Eva Parker Woodruff. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and follower of Christ.
He was a veteran of the Navy and member of the Eugene A. Greene Tin Can Sailors. On August 30, 1975, he married Mary Morrow in Danville, IL and she survives. Bill owned and operated Bill's Home Maintenance and formerly worked at Purdue University. As the founder of Nancy's Broken Circle, Bill worked with children from the Bauer Community Center, Salvation Army and Boys and Girls Club of Lafayette. He was also a member of Indiana State Beekeepers Association, former Cub Scout Leader and member of the Tecumseh Kiwanis Club.
George enjoyed woodworking, gardening and taking his grandchildlren to Szechuan Gardens. Surviving with his wife are his children Tamara J. Woodruff (Michael Lawrence) of Tucson, AZ, Michael A. Woodruff of West Lafayette, Liz A. (Russell) Kelsay of Whiteland, Sarah E. Woodruff of Chicago, IL and grandsons Rhett and Grant Kelsay. George was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Woodruff, and sons Scott and Chad Woodruff, 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Nancy’s Broken Circle or the Lafayette Salvation Army.
