Sis. & Bro. Sousley left a message on March 2, 2010:
Brother Sousley is not feeling well today and I have to work 2 jobs back-to-back, but we wanted to let you know how sad we are at your loss. Bro. Shoaf was a gentle person with a good sense of humour and kind-hearted. We were shocked at the suddeness and I have been weepy since Saturday for you.
I made a floral arrangement & am sending it and a card with the kids and if you need anything--a meal, help with the house, whatever, call me. 446-0668

My sincere sympathy to the family.
I would liked to have known Gary. His father was a fine man.
We grew up in the same neighborhood. William "Wig" lived over on south 20th street in the 800 block. His father ( "Wig" ) and Jess Hamilton, decided to call me Dutch when we were young boys , and the nick name stuck.
And special condolences to Linda.
John Sr. is a good barbershopper friend of mine.
Sincerely,
F.J. "Dutch" Fleming

James Philip Puz left a message on March 1, 2010:
I graduated from Jefferson High School with Gary in 1968! I can&t remember too much about him since we were not close friends. After high school, I entered military service and eventually ended up living in Massachusetts for 27 years and recently relocated to North Carolina. But, hearing his name suddenly gave rise to recalling a little about him during our days together at Jeff! I&m sorry to hear of his passing and offer my sincerest condolences to his family and friends; on the other hand, I take great comfort in the fact that, like me, he had Jesus Christ in his heart and life as personal Saviour. He&s the second person from our class in recent months whose conversion to Christ was made known to me by what was stated in the obituary!! Therefore, I look forward to seeing him and our other male classmate someday in Heaven when sin and suffering shall be no more and we will dwell in the House of the Lord forever!!!
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
