Frederick N. “Rick” Striegel, 62, of Flora, died at 12:42 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Central.
He was born Nov. 8, 1948, in St. Louis , to the late Isaac and Charlotte Gurley Striegel. He was in the Air Force from Jan. 30, 1968, to Jan. 28, 1972.
On Nov. 12, 2000, he married Judy Deck in West Lafayette, and she survives.
Mr. Striegel was an over-the-road truck driver.
He was a member of American Legion Post 492, and enjoyed woodworking, spending time outside and time with his dogs.
Surviving along with his wife are three sons, Christopher Striegel of Lafayette, Kevin Striegel of Flora, and Daniel Donohue (wife: Vickie) of Lafayette; a daughter, Beth Armstrong of Lafayette; one brother, Erik Striegel of Highland, Ill., and four sisters, Dianne Carter of Maceo, Ky., Jan Klose (husband: Ken) of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Rhonda Sieben (husband: George) of Blairsville, Ga., and Lynne Odom (husband: Dan) of Caseyville, Ill.
Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Levi and Nicole Armstrong, a great-grandson, Carter Ledman, 5 nieces and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Donohue.
Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at 12 noon Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., with Gilbert Kerrigan officiating. Burial at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with American Legion Post 492 graveside rites.
