Francis Yarnall, 101, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Westminster Village. He was born May 7, 1923 in Cumberland, MD to the late Francis DeSalles and Jesse Abbott Yarnall. He married Helen L. Brown in Cumberland, MD on August 22, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2002.
Mr. Yarnall was a Navy veteran of World War II and a graduate of West Virginia University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Yarnall retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA in 1987. He was involved with the development and design of nuclear propulsion systems for the Navy. He moved to Lafayette from Pittsburgh, PA in 2001 to be close to his son and family.
He is survived by one son, Thomas (wife Margaret) of Lafayette, two grandsons, Donavan (wife Rachel) of Columbia, SC and Bradley (wife Gina) of Huntertown, IN and five great grandchildren, Isaac, Ella, Emerson, Alexander and Jackson. He is survived by one sister, Kathryn (husband Robin) of Fayetteville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Christian Francis, his brother, John, sisters, Patricia, Mary Ann, Jean, Joyce, and Joanne. Francis was a very humble and private man who was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at St. Mary Cathedral, 1200 South Street, Lafayette.
