Frances Towe, 96, of West Lafayette, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, IN. She was born March 5, 1918, in MIddlefork to the late Frank and Edith Cohee Whiteman and had lived in Converse, IN most of her life. Frances graduated from Burlington High School in Burlington, IN and Indiana Central College in Indianapolis. On February 14, 1945 she married Corwin M. Towe in Burlington and he preceded her on death on October 29, 1985. Frances taught first grade at Converse Elementary School for many years and is retired. She was a long time member of the Converse Christian Church in Converse, IN. Frances was a Devote Christian person who placed her family first and foremost during her lifetime. She helped support all four children thru colleges. She loved to work with her hands on all outdoor projects, including her specialty, gardening. Frances will always be remembered for her compassion and gentleness toward all her fellow human beings. May she rest in Heaven in Peace. Surviving are her children Mariann Durkes (Cedric) of West Lafayette, Gordon Towe (Linda) of Huntington, Peggy Lucas (Aaron) of Lebanon, Monte Towe (Paula) of Gainesville, FL, grandchildren Neil, Paul and Carl Durkes, Adam and Asher Lucas, Ryan and Corey Towe, great grandchildren Penelope and Henrietta Durkes, Brittany Eller, Coral Towe, Aidan, Ethan and Ian Lucas. Also surviving is her sister Marjorie Rude of Sedalia. Frances was preceded in death by sisters Helen Repologle, Louise Huffer, Betty Joe Salmons and her brother Ralph Whiteman. Visitation will be 10 am-12 pm Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Graveside service will be 1 pm Monday at Middlefork Cemetery, Middlefork, IN. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Converse Christian Church, Converse, IN.
