Rev. Everett P. Claton, 91, of Otterbein, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at IU Health Arnett Hospital. He was born April 3, 1929, in Pekin, IL, to the late Palmer and Edna (Green) Claton.
Everett graduated from Pekin High School and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
In 1950 he married Dorothy “Dottie” Schappaugh and she preceded him in death in 2004. He then married Mary Jane Oliphant and she survives.
Everett was Pastor at churches in Akron, OH, Wyanet, IL, Princeton and Remington, IN and retired in 1975. He loved preaching the Gospel and leading souls to Christ.
Everett was an Cubs fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving along with his wife are his children Kevin L. (Juanita) Claton of Warren, MI, Lori L. Claton Roberts of Lafayette, Kent M. (Lana) Claton of Carmel, IN, Kurt A. Claton of Lafayette, stepson, Michael Oliphant of Otterbein, stepdaughter Michelle (Mike) Biggs of West Lafayette, grandchildren Aimee, Kelli, Amber, Dustin, Michael, Dotti, Christian, Caleb, Trevor, Cameron, Sydney, 19 great grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren Tyler and Michael.
Also surviving is his sister Janice (Larry) Shehorn and Carol (Jim) Evans, sister-in-law Linda Claton all of Pekin, IL.
Everett was preceded in death by a son Timothy E. Claton, siblings Marilyn Claton and Dale Claton.
Private family service will be held on Friday. Interment will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, IL.
