Ethelene E. Staggs, 92, of Lafayette, IN died Monday, June 1, 2015 at her home. She was born September 29, 1922, in Summertown, TN, to the late Charles and Thelma Bryant Foster. On August 19, 1939 she married Harold Staggs in Lawrence County, TN and he preceded her in death in 1991. Ethelene was a homemaker and worked at Purdue University in Student Housing for over 10 years and was retired. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Surviving are her children Carolyn Bonwell (Willard) of Lafayette, Delbert Staggs (Marla) of Cottonwood Shores, TX, Pam Staggs of Lafayette, Janice Shoaf (Will) of Lafayette, Candy Calvert (Ernie) of Summertown, TN, 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Also survivng are her siblings Helen Ashworth, Sue Taylor, James Bryant Foster, Reese Foster (Emmanola) all of Summertown, TN and Mildred Brown (Johnny) of Columbia, TN. Ethelene was preceded in death by sons Jerry and Ralph Staggs and a sister Marie Buie. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Saturday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Pastor Nathan Whybrew officiating. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Those wishing may contribute to a charity of choice in Ethelene's memory.
