Edzel L. Eads Sr., 84, of Michigan City, formerly of Lafayette , died at 11:05 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, at The Arbors Healthcare.
He was born on Nov. 5, 1926, in Somerset, Ky., and was the son of the late Velber and Clara Bernard Eads.
On Sept. 20, 1944, he married Betty Robertson, and she died Oct. 30, 2004.
Mr. Eads worked for Minardo?s and Scott Farm Foods in Lafayette as a truck driver and mechanic for over 30 years before retiring.
He served in the Navy from Jan. 25, 1945, to April 20, 1946, during World War II.
Surviving are his children Linda Eads, Michigan City, Jennifer Derment (husband: George) and Edzel Eads Jr. (wife: Becky), both of Lafayette, Donna Dillon (husband: Jesse) of Pond Creek, Okla., Michael Eads (wife: Betsy) of Killeen, Texas, and a brother, Marshall Eads, and a sister, Emma Simmons, both of Illinois.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren
Visitation will be 1/2 hour prior to a 1:30 p.m. service Thursday at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Killenhoeffer. In lieu of flowers memorials to ASERA Care Hospice, 332 West Highway 30, Valparaiso, IN 46385.
