Edward J. Yestrebsky, 85, of Lafayette, IN, died at 9:45 PM Monday, January 30, 2012 at Indiana University Health.
He was born January 11, 1927, in Jessup, PA, to the late John and Elizabeth Yestrebsky
He served in the United States Coast Guard During World War II .
He graduated from Trenton Boys Catholic School and Purdue University.
On October 27, 1951 he married Mary M. Lowery .
Edward was a member of the Labor and Hod Carrier Local 274.
He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox Fan. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, cooking and baking.
Surviving are Michael Yestrebsky, Son, Lafayette, John Yestrebsky, Son, wife Jennifer, of Lafayette, Annie Miller, Daughter, Husband Robin of Lafayette, Memory Howell, Daughter, Husband Daniel of Lewis Center, OH. Helen Zorchak, Sister, New Jersey.
The service will be 10 AM Thursday February 2, with Visitation 1 hour prior to the service all at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Rev. Larry Johnson Officiating. Interment at Tipecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette following the service.

My heart goes out to your family for the loss of your dear father and grandfather ""Wallie"", as we knew him at our WALLA classes. He was always there to quietly greet us daily with a friendly ""Hello"". He was such a kind gentleman, that knew alot, but was never boastful. He often spoke to me, of his granddaughter, with a little smile on his face. Sorry that I missed the service today and would have been there to show respect for such a very fine being of God, had I seen the notice Wed.
""Wallie"" brought yarn into our knitting class, to share with everyone, stating that his wife always enjoyed knitting. That is just the kind of guy he was and like you, we will miss him dearly, especially when classes start and he will not be there.
