Edna Mae (Cook) Brummett, 81, of Stockwell, IN, died at 4:15 PM Saturday, December 5, 2015 at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born September 16, 1934, in Lafayette to the late Kenneth and Lucille Cook, and lived most of her life in Lafayette or Stockwell. On July 20, 1962 she married Robt “Bob” Brummett in Oxford. Edna worked at GTE prior to her marriage and as a retail clerk at Hatke's store after her children were older; however, she was happiest as a stay-at-home mom caring for her children. She was a member of Stockwell United Methodist church and taught Bible study and Sunday school there for numerous years. She also enjoyed snow-birding in Florida, crocheting, and playing bingo. Surviving is a son, Randy Brummett (wife Paula) of Florida, daughters, Sherry Banes, Janet Brummett and Nancy Whicker (husband John), sister, Deb Cook, brother, John R Cook (wife Doris) all of Lafayette, daughter Susan Garrett (husband Roger) and son, John Brummett (wife Brenda) both of Stockwell, son, Jim Brummett (wife Debi) of Indianapolis, daughter, Christine Dean (husband David) of Texas, and brother Donald Cook (wife Ellen) of Michigan. Edna also had 25 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Brummett, brothers, James Cook and Harold “Butch” Cook and a sister, Lois (Cook) Miller. She was a loving, caring woman who had a good sense of humor and had many stories to tell. She led a long, happy life, was dearly loved, and will be missed by many. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5:00 PM-8:00 PM, December 9, 2016 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. A funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 10, 2015, also at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Rev. Joseph Park Jr. will be officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery.
