Edna “Bert” Buckles, age 87 died at 3:35 a.m. at Heritage of Normal Nursing Home, Normal, IL. She was a lifelong resident of Lafayette, Indiana, but then moved to Illinois 9 years ago to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to an 11 a.m. service on Tuesday, April 23 at Soller Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette, Indiana. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th floor, Norwalk, CT. 06851 or through their website at www.themmrf.org Bert was born March 16, 1926 in Freetown, Indiana, a daughter of Harley O. and Alice Spurgeon. She married Robert E. Buckles on February 20, 1943. Bert was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Walt) Bergren, Heyworth, IL, and one granddaughter Holly (Michael) Kreuser, Chicago, IL. After retiring from Andover Corporation, Bert and Bob spent several winters in Florida and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
