Earl Francis Foltz, 80 of Lafayette went home to be with his heavenly father February 29th, 2012. Born May 7, 1931 in Blanford, In. He was the son of the late Leroy Francis and Grace Vivian (Beard) Foltz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rita (Snider) Foltz, brother Tomey Foltz, sister Marian Jo Sipes and a grandson, Carlos Foltz.
He joined the Army in 1952 and trained as a paratrooper learning to “jump out of a perfectly good airplane in fright”. He retired from Alcoa in 1997 after 31 years of dedicated employment.
Earl will be remembered for his big heart (as bad as it was)and a loving character that made a significant impact on all those he touched. His intelligence and integrity inspired all those around him and his wicked since of humor made every day more fun.
He was a life long “Die Hard” cubs fan since 1945, when he would listen to the games with his grandma Katie on the radio and dream of a world series championship only to be swept into the perpetual “wait till next year” reality. His wish was to live long enough to see his Cubbies win the series only to be reminded that nobody lives forever.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy are his brothers, Cecil Dale Foltz (Sandra miller) of Lafayette, Kenneth E. (Carolyn) Foltz of Mason, Ohio, his sister Jennifer (Doug) Stutzman of Warsaw, In, his daughters Kimberly (James) Blevins and Deirdre (Mark) Trail of Lafayette, his son Michael (Ronda) Foltz of Richmond, Virginia his 8 grand children, Dorissa (James) Foster, Christopher (Christa) Blevins, Michael (Katie) Foltz, Sheena (Chris Thompson), Reneé (Steven) Herin, Dustin (Hannah Redman) Foltz, Danica Funk, Kylie Trail, his 10 great grand children, Krystal(fiance& Bill Keck), Cayla, Claire, Shawn, Neo.
