Joseph ElGomayel, 83
Dr. Joseph I. ElGomayel, 83, of West Lafayette, died at 7:37 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, at St. Elizabeth East.
He was born April 18, 1928, in Maghagha, Egypt, the son of the late Ibraham & Aziza Khouru ElGomayel
Dr. ElGomayel completed his bachelor?s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Cairo. He and his family relocated to West Lafayette in 1960 so he could pursue his master?s and doctorate from Purdue University.
He became a professor in the School of Industrial Engineering in 1966, where he remained until retirement in 2001.
He was an active member of The Church of the Blessed Sacrament for 40 years.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa ElGomayel of West Lafayette; a daughter, Dina Martin (husband: Keith) of Wausau, Wis.; a son, Ramzy ElGomayel (wife: Mona) Alpharetta, Ga.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Sara Martin, Jacob Martin, Sydney ElGomayel, Alexandra ElGomayel, Cassidy ElGomayel; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers, Michael and Elias ElGomayel, and sister, Getta ElGomayel.
Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament. Funeral Service Friday at 11 a.m. at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Fr. David Buckles officiating.
