Dorothy A. Mornout, 83, Lafayette, died at 1:06 am Monday October 5, 2015 at Indiana Veterans Home. She was born April 11, 1932, in Elston, to the late Oscar and Bernice (Peneton) Shoaf. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1951. Dorothy married Richard C. Mornout on November 11, 1978 and he passed away September 18, 2007. Dorothy was employed at Purdue University, Printing Services. Retiring in 1994, after 27 years of service. Dorothy was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Purdue Basketball. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was involved in small group ministries, a lover of country music, and camping with family. Dorothy spent her time with her many friends enjoying aqua aerobics at the YMCA and lunches with her friends regularly. Dorothy leaves behind a loving family that will deeply miss her role as the “Heart” of the family. Surviving are her sons, Dennis M. (wife Katherine) Dillard, Lafayette, Robert K. (wife Barbara) Dillard, Brookston, and Timothy A. (wife Deborah) Dillard, Mt. Juliet, TN. Also, step daughter, Rayann Fritz (husband David), Lafayette, and step son, Richard Jones, Moore, OK. Sisters, Maxine Nelson (husband Blanchard), Bonnie Shoaf of Lafayette. Also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren.Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Thursday, October 8th at Soller-Baker 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909.Funeral Service will be held Friday, 10:00 am Grace United Methodist Church, 615 N 22nd Street, Lafayette, IN 47904 with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Entombment will be at Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens. Dorothy was preceded in death by husband, Richard C. Mornout, and son Michael P. Dillard and a brother, Wallace Shoaf. Those wishing may contribute to the Grace United Methodist Church.
