Deloris J. Ritenour, 88, of West Lafayette, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at IU Arnett Hospital. Her friends and family knew her by Doty.
She was born April 16, 1928, in Frankfort, Indiana to the late Walter and Grace Younger Strode. Her marriage was to Bob Ritenour and he preceded her in death. Bob and Doty owned and operated Ritenour Electronics for many years.
She was a member of Federated Church, the Order of Eastern Star and the Elks. She enjoyed Purdue Basketball! Doty loved golf and could often be found with friends on the Elks’ course. She enjoyed euchre with friends during her years at Friendship House. Visits from her sister, Joan, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all very special to her. Heritage Healthcare had been her home for more than a year and her family would like to express their appreciation to the caring staff there. Sharon spent most days there helping her mother be comfortable. Because of her spunky nature and love of life, family and friends she left the world a better place than she found it. She will be missed!
Surviving is her daughter, Sharon Smith (husband Brian) of West Lafayette; three grandchildren, Brandon Smith (wife Katie) of Lafayette, Lyz Jones (husband Richard) of Ohio, Chelsie Bowen (husband Pat) of West Lafayette; four great-grandchildren, Masyn and Malik Smith, Daniel Jones and Tasha Hartley. Also surviving are her sisters Joan Miller of Frankfort and Colleen Young of Noblesville.
There was a private service with Entombment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Soller-Baker Funeral Home, West Lafayette Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association in Deloris’s memory.
