Dayton J. Truax, 85, of Lafayette, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Rosewalk Commons. He was born October 2, 1930, in Monon, to the late Dayton and Mae Stevenson Truax. Dayton was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. On July 31, 1960 he married Vearl Moore in Lafayette and she preceded him in death on December 26, 1993. Dayton worked at Alcoa for 33 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of the VFW #1154 and the American Legion Post #11. Surviving is his son Billy P. Truax of Lafayette, 3 grandsons and 3 great grandchildren. Also survivng is his brother Larry J. Truax of Frankfort and a sister Jane Cosner of NC. Dayton was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Robert Truax. Visitation will be 5:00 pm-8:00 pm Monday at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West. Service will be 10:00 am Tuesday at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
