David J. Steen left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on May 6, 2018.
David was born to the late Elmer and Oline Steen on August 22, 1945 in Ortonville, Minnesota.
David retired from Purdue in 2008 after 32 years of service to the Indiana State Egg Board. He was a member of Covenant Church where he was a faithful participant of the choir. He was also a proud member of Gideons International for 26 years. He greatly enjoyed participating in their community outreach efforts including passing out Bibles on college campuses and at the county fair each year. He enjoyed gardening, maintaining a pristine lawn, and any activities that involved the outdoors. Above all, David cherished time spent with his family.
Along with his wife Becky, he is survived by his three children, Deanna Steen of San Diego, CA, Ken (Kelley) Steen of Crawfordsville, and Nicki (Johnny) Henry of Lafayette, and 5 grandchildren: Kennedy, Kole, Korbin, Kullen, and Levi. David is also survived by one brother, Roger, and four sisters, Helen, Elaine, Alice, and Margaret. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations in David's name be given to Gideons International. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 at the Montmorenci Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 1:30 p.m. at Covenant Church, 211 Knox Dr, West Lafayette, with Pastor Rob Eyman officiating. A time of fellowship to follow services.
