Dane G. Northcutt 

July 17, 1998 – January 29, 2022

Who was Dane? If you are reading this maybe you don’t know him, or you just want to know more about him. Well fine I guess I will tell you. He was born on July 17, 1998 and passed away due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on January 29, 2022. Dane was raised by his mother, Kimberly Northrup, father, Greg Northcutt, his bonus parents, stepfather, Tom Northrup, and stepmother, Brenda Northcutt. He has two stepbrothers, Chance and Tanner Northrup, grandparents, Curt and Carol Northcutt and Jim and Evelyn Cain and a sister, Madalyne Northcutt, I will be the one telling you about my brother. Dane was a kid who always had two goals in mind the first was to join the military the second was to work in law enforcement. He always had that in mind, and it never changed.  

Fresh off his graduation from Jefferson High School in 2017 he joined the Army. Dane was a helicopter mechanic, but unfortunately military life was not meant for him, and he was honorably discharged. After coming home, he got his job at Carroll County Corrections. He loved what he did, but he was so much more than just his job. 

When Dane wasn’t on duty he enjoyed video games, hunting, tractor pulls and playing frisbee with Nani, his dog. Dane loved to work on cars and trucks with his father and his papa, Curtis Northcutt. If you would let him, he would talk about diesel trucks and cars for hours. He enjoyed being around his friends and family. Dane was the person who could walk into a room of strangers and leave with everyone as his friend. He just had something about him that made people want to get to know him. 

Dane loved to be out by or in water. Whether it was fishing, swimming or driving a boat. Dane was like a fish. He and I spent a lot of summer on Lake Freeman riding in a tube tied to the back of a boat. Sometimes we would get catapulted off the tube other times you made it back to the boat safe. Either way Dane loved it. 

Dane was also stubborn, honest and quick with his comebacks. Sometimes he was too honest, but we all loved him anyway. He knew how to roast someone and do it well. Dane was the funny one in his friend group. He loved to bring everyone together and make them laugh over a few beers and a bonfire. He would play pranks on anyone or hide behind a corner just to pop out and scare you. He always thought scaring people was the funniest. 

Dane was selfless; he would give up anything for anyone who knew him. It did not matter if it was tools, cars, food or the shirt off his back that’s just how he was.  But lastly Dane was a son, grandson, brother, coworker and friend to a lot of people. He will be missed by all who knew him. Dane was loved by all because that’s just who he was. He was Dane.
