Constance Louise “Connie Lou” (Nightingale) Burke, died Monday, September 7, 2020 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus in West Lafayette with her husband Michael by her side.

She was born October 10, 1947 in Wolcott to the late  Marion Edward and Hazel Edith (Clary) Nightingale. She was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and continued her education at Indiana Wesleyan University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education.  She married Michael L. Burke on August 14, 1976 at Kossuth Street Baptist Church in Lafayette and he survives.

Connie worked as a teacher at Lafayette Baptist School for 2 years. She also worked at Eqyptian Lacquer for several years before working as the Administrative Assistant at the Purdue Veterinary School.  Connie was a key player in the development of the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) Program and worked as the Program Coordinator until her retirement. She was a member of Wea Ridge Baptist Church.

Connie enjoyed reading, crocheting and doing crafts. She also liked to sew, make quilts, and cook.  Above all, Connie’s true passion was spending time with her family and her grandchildren.

Along with her husband Michael, she is survived by a daughter, Kristy (Bob) Bennett of Lafayette; a son, Ryan (Adrean) Burke of Lafayette; 6 grandchildren, Kaiah and Leslie Bennett, Maddison Krupinksi, and Drew, Matt, and Sophia Burke; a sister, Margaret Christopher; 7 nieces and nephews, Dan, Dave, Donna, Gail, Greg, and David; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Hazel Nightingale; sister, Vida Jean “Jeannie” Yeoman and nephew, Doug.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held at Wea Ridge Baptist Church on Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am, Monday, September 14, 2020 at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette, IN 47909 with Pastor Dan Sager officiating.

Interment will follow at Meadow View Cemetery, 3733 Poland Hill Rd, Lafayette, IN 47909.
