Connie Ackors Sell died peacefully on December 29, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana, with her sweetheart by her side. She was born on August 5, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Elba Padgett Ackors. She graduated from Morocco High School in 1963 and attended IBM Business School in St. Louis, MO. She married David P. Sell on November 6, 1965. For the last 10 years, they have wintered at Leisure Acres in Sebring, Florida.
Together, they were a part of Indiana Young Farmers and Newton County 4-H leaders. Connie was an incredible seamstress who spent hours at the sewing machine and in fabric and quilt shops.
Connie was a 50-year member of Pythian Sisters as a member of Morocco Temple #326 and, most recently, a member of Warsaw Temple #1. She was the Grand Chief of Indiana in 1989 and served as a Past Supreme Representative.
Connie was an Otterbein United Methodist Church member who worshipped with her family each week. Over the years, she had been active in circle at the United Church of Morocco, sang in the church choir at Brook United Methodist Church, and was active in United Methodist Women at the local and district levels.
Connie’s greatest joy was her family. She and Dave were active in their children’s and grandchildren’s lives, attending many school, sports, and musical events.
Connie is survived by her husband of 59 years, David P. Sell of Lafayette, IN, brother Bill Ackors of Morocco, IN, children Will (Linda) Sell of Lafayette, IN, Lesli (Rich) Hansen of Otterbein, IN, and Amy Sell of Billings, MT; grandchildren, Taylor Sell, Shannon Hansen, Trevor Sell, Brooklynn Hansen, Logan Hansen, Michael (Shannon) Teller, and Megan (Jeff) McNeely, and four great-grandchildren. Connie leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and surrogate children for whom she provided stability during their formative years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 2-6 pm, with 6 pm services at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 405 E. Oxford St., Otterbein, IN 47970. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Wounded Warrior Project, Otterbein United Methodist Church, or Brook United Methodist Church in Connie’s memory.
