Charles R. Sietsma

Charles R. Sietsma, 80, of Lafayette, died at 8:40 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at Indiana University Health in Lafayette.
He was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Lafayette, and was the son of the late Pete and H. Lorraine Stair Sietsma.
On May 25, 1962 he married Annie “Nancy” Scott in Lafayette. She died March 1, 1992.
Mr. Sietsma retired from Purdue University in 1991 after several years and had also worked part time at Marsh Supermarkets for over 20 years.
He served in the Army and was a member of American Legion Post 11 and 40&8.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurie Sietsma and Lorna Sietsma, both of Lafayette; a son, John Sietsma (wife: Tish) of Pine Village; two sisters, Carolyn Bridge (husband: Gary) and Mary J. Wilhoit, both of Lafayette.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memoy Gardens. In lieu of flowers those wishing may contribute to the Almost Home Humane Society.

I just saw on JC Online that your brother, Chuck, had died and I wanted to send my condolences to you and Carolyn. My brother, Denny, died last December in Ohio.
It seems a long time since I last saw you but I don&t get back to Lafayette very often though I occasionally talk to Joanie. I hope that this note finds you doing well. So far I have been blessed with good health (as far as I know) but I know that is always subject to quick change at this age!
I sure hope we can get together sometime. I was ""home"" last Christmas but only briefly though Joan wanted to get together with you but there just wasn&t enough time. We have a lot of ""catching up"" to do, my friend!
