Charles R. “Dick” Moelhman, 81, of Lafayette, died at 7:58 AM Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Central. He was born October 14, 1931, in Lafayette, to the late Edward and Mary Lindsey Moelhman. He served in the United States Army from November 26, 1951 to November 5, 1953. He graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1949 and attended Purdue University. Dick worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post #11 and enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and traveling. Surviving are daughters Amy J. Moelhman of Indianapolis, Karen Borns of West Lafayette, their mother Marian Moelhman of Lafayette; Barbara LeFevers (husband Michael), Lisa Barton (husband Greg) both of Lafayette and their mother Carol Moelhman of Zephyrhills, FL; his life partner Betty J. Thomas of Lafayette; a step daughter Jeannette Whiteman of Lafayette; a step son Glenn Thomas (wife Bobbi) of West Lafayette; a sister Dorothy Timmons of Albuquerque, NM; fourteen grandchildren – Jerry, Chad and Matthew LeFevers, Joanna Borns, Jennifer Doeden, Scott and Rodney Barton, Taylor, Ashley and Levi Whiteman, Nan Leman, Niki Pornoy, Courtney Shubach and Brittany Thomas; two great grandchildren Kaleb and Kason Doeden. He was preceded in death by three brothers Robert, James and John Moelhman and three sisters Marian Rausch, Jean and Helen Moelhman. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, October 14, 2013 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with funeral services at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 15 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909 with Fr. Clayton Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Those wishing may contribute to the American Cancer Society.
