Charles E. Karrick, 93, of Lafayette, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at his residence. He was born September 27, 1921, in Hoopston, IL, to the late Edward and Lydia Rogers Karrick. Charles graduated from Liberty Center High School, Liberty Center, IN and served in the Army Air Corps in WWII. On July 4, 1946 he married Zelma Smith and she preceded him in death on April 8, 2005. Charles worked for the Postal Service for many years and is retired. He had previously worked for the Brown Rubber Company and Goris Tire Company. He enjoyed reading, spending winters in TX, camping and was a member of many camping clubs. Surviving is his daughter Donna J. Kirts of Lafayette, 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by two daughters Melvina Riley and Carolyn Kingston. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to a 10:30 AM service Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
