Charlene K. Lodde, 80
Charlene K. Lodde, 80, of Lafayette, died at 12:35 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at Regency Place.
Born Aug. 11, 1929, in Frankfort, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence Michael Kirkhoff. She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and attended Purdue University.
On Dec. 27, 1949, she married Richard E. “Dick” Lodde at St. Boniface Church, and he died on May 10, 1986.
Mrs. Lodde and her husband owned and operated The Original Frozen Custard.
She was a member of Tri Kappa social sorority, National Restaurant Association, National Frozen Dessert & Fast Food Association and PEO Sisterhood. She was a volunteer at Home and St. Elizabeth hospitals in Lafayette. Her hobbies were traveling, painting, playing bridge and art.
Surviving are four sons, Rick Lodde (wife: Paulette) of Lafayette, Charles “Kirk” Lodde (wife: Stephanie) of Frankfort, Thomas “Tom” M. Lodde (wife: Jodi) and William “Bill” J. Lodde (wife: Kathleen), both of Lafayette.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Rachel Brouwer (husband: Allen), Megan Lodde (companion: Andrew Schwint), Jill Greives (husband: Tim), Blake Lodde, Wiley and Alex Lodde, Justin and Jason Hetzel, Cassandra and Lindsey Kilmore; and great-grandchildren, Haley and Abby Brouwer, Gavin and Landon Lodde, Macy, Madeline, Natali and Jude. Charlene was devoted to her family and enjoyed the time spent with them.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Private Family Service on Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Fr. Robert Klemme officiating. Interment at St. Boniface Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the Lafayette Catholic School System, 2410 S. Recently I was reminded of my years of working for you all (Four Boys Manner, The Original Frozen Custard and Snowbear on Campus). I am so sorry for your loss. I always loved waiting on and talking with your mom when I worked at Four Boys Manner. I am hoping that through your memories you can begin to heal from your loss. I&m sorry to hear about charlene i took care of her when i worked at regency before transfering she was a sweet person to take care of and she will sadly be missed.

To the Lodde boys,
I am sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I have a lot of good memories of you guys, while you lived in Attica. I know Mother has had a very difficult few years. I enjoyed visiting with her in Regency Place when my dad was a resident. He too, enjoyed her visits and bright smile. I am sorry that I was unable to visit with you on Thursday evening, but got to sign the book. The line was to long for me to stay. My thoughts are with you on Friday and the coming days. I hope with this note that each day will become a little brighter. I will be stopping to say """"Hi"""" this summer. Wishing you happier days for the future.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember how gracious, helpful, and dependable she was when all of you were in the Explorer Post. Vi Hall and I could always count on her when we needed some extra help. But most of all I remember her infectious smile and laughter. No matter the craziness, her humor got us through it.

She was a truly gracious and loving person. I feel blessed to have known her.

My sister, Linda, notified us about Charlene&s passing. Upon hearing this, a mulititude of memories of her flooded my mind. She was a terrific lady and I know she will be missed terribly. Accept our prayers and condolences and just remember that she touched a lot of lives.
