Charity Hester Kilmer, 90, of Lafayette, died at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at St. Mary Health Care.
She was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Clyattville, Ga., to the late Edward and Charity Hendrix Swilley. She was a beautician for more than 50 years and owned Hester?s Beauty Shop in Silver City, N.M., for 38 years, retiring in 2005.
Mrs. Kilmer was a member of Order of Eastern Star in Silver City and was an artist who enjoyed painting, jewelry making, stained glass and photography. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and fishing.
Surviving are her two sons Windell “”Otie”” Hollis Kilmer (wife: Rosemary) of West Lafayette and Cannie Charles Kilmer of Albuquerque; and a half brother, Hollis Green of Florida.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
