Cecil Rouse

Cecil W. Rouse, 90, of Lafayette, died at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010, at his residence.
Born Feb. 17, 1920, in Danville, Ill., he was the son of the late Rollo W. and Oral Iva McElwee Rouse.
He served in the Army from Nov. 21, 1941 to Nov. 3, 1945, serving in both Rome and the North Apennines.
On March 10, 1943, he married Virginia Davis at Fort Benning, Ga., and she survives.
Mr. Rouse worked for Public Service Indiana from 1941 until his retirement in 1982 as an energy consultant.
He was a member of Congress Street United Methodist Church, where he was on the board of trustees, a lay leader, and delegate to the annual conference. He was on the administrative board of the United Methodist Men, and was former president and chairman. He was also a member of American Legion Post 11, and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, David A. Rouse of West Palm Beach, Fla., Rick Rouse of Lafayette and Scott E. Rouse (wife: Dottie) of Indianapolis.
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Alexandra and Benjamin Rouse, and Amy Wright (husband: Steven). Cecil was preceded in death by a son, Paul “Randy” Rouse; 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
Visitation 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909. Service 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Congress Street United Methodist Church, 2010 Congress St., Lafayette, IN 47905, with the Rev. Clarinda Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to the Congress Street United Methodist Church.
