Carroll Rex Switzer

Carroll Rex Switzer, 80, of Lafayette, died at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Central.
Born Aug. 26, 1929, in Waynetown, he was the son of the late Dallas and Gertrude Humphrey Switzer. He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and served in the Air Force.
On Nov. 19, 1949, he married Margaret Farrell in Lafayette, and she survives.
Mr. Switzer worked in the shipping department at Alcoa for 34 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club and enjoyed playing golf, gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving with his wife are his children, Belinda K. Mahan (husband: Edward), Diana L. Gipson (husband: Craig), Carol A. Brouillette (husband: Eddie), Kitty Switzer-McCollum and Michael R. Switzer (wife: Erin), all of Lafayette; and a brother, Donald Switzer (wife: Evelyn) of Mesquite, Texas.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Bridgit, Matthew, Jaime, Audrey, Casey, Lonzy, Dakota, Christopher, Tyler, Koby, Bryce and Ella; 7 great-grandchildren, Jaden, Brett, Kyczar, Mia, Taylor, Josie and Kinzie. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard and Gleyre Switzer.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Thursday with service 10 a.m. Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Pastor Tom Bennett officiating. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery.
