C. Jeanette Gibson

C. Jeanette Gibson, 80, of Lafayette died Tuesday July 10, 2012 at IU Health Arnett Hospital. She was born November 13, 1931, in Lafayette to the late Ralph and Elsie Carpenter Biery. Jeanette graduated from Dayton High School and on May 14, 1949 she married Bill Gibson in Dayton and he preceded her in death on August 7, 2011. Mrs. Gibson was an accompanist for numerous groups including school choirs, gospel groups and was a church organist for over 60 years. Jeanette also was a piano teacher, teaching in the Lafayette area and in California. She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dayton and a former member of the Dayton United Methodist Church. Jeanette enjoyed playing cards and board games. She was an avid sports fan including Purdue and the Chicago Cubs. Jeanette was a devoted mother and grandmother. Surviving are her children Sherry L. Marks husband John , Larry Gibson wife Brenda, Kevin W. Gibson wife Kim all of Lafayette, grandchildren Melanie Ratcliff husband Chris of Lafayette, Chadd Gibson wife Angela of Rossville, Matt Marks wife Angie of Lafayette, Emily Crose of NYC, Courtney Steckler husband Toby of Charlotte, NC, Megan Hatke husband Frank of Lafayette, Kirby Gibson of Lafayette and 16 great grandchildren. Also survivng is her brother Dave Biery wife Thelma of Lafayette. Jeanette was preceded in death by grandson Ryan Gibson, siblings Frances Merritt, Mary Bol, Maxine Biery, John Biery, Pauline Liebenguth and Bob Biery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday at Memorial Presbyterian Church, Dayton with service there at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Wyandotte Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the American Heart Association, Diabetes Association or Memorial Presbyterian Church.
