Bryan David Stroud, 48, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday November 5th, 2016 at his home. He was born March 3rd, 1968 in Lafayette, IN and was the son of Jolaine Chalmers (Paul) Roberts and David (Jo) Stroud. He graduated from McCutcheon High School in 1986 and attended Vincennes University. On October 29th, 2000, Bryan married Kristi Zandi in Dallas, TX. She survives. He is also survived by his son Jeffrey, daughter Victoria, sister Jamie (John) DiDomenico, half-brother Levi (Brittney) Stroud, uncle Jeff B. (Jill) Stroud, aunt Ann (Tom) DeGroff, aunt Jean Ann (Gary) Southard, grandfather Alfred “Al” Stroud, three step-siblings (Larry (Betty), Troy, and Lori Roberts), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bryan owned his own contracting business, Made Right Remodeling, and was a journeyman electrician. He previously owned 222 Ice Carver ice carving business and won multiple bronze medals at National Ice Carving competitions. Bryan obtained a Level 2 Rocketry certification. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts for 13 years. During those 13 years, he loved being a BB gun instructor, Cub Scout leader, serving on the District Eagle Board and being Troop 373 Boy Scoutmaster. Bryan helped many boys through the ranks of Boy Scouts and mentored 8 boys to earn their Eagle Scout rank.
Bryan loved music and enjoyed playing the bass guitar and the piano. While living in Dallas in the 90s, he was a part of 3 successful bands. Bryan loved to camp, garden, cook, fish, and woodwork. He also enjoyed making fantastic homemade beer. Bryan was gifted with a creative and artistic eye. Bryan touched more lives than he will ever realize. He was loved dearly and will be missed by his friends and family.
Services will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 600 Ferry Street, Lafayette, IN 47901 (enter through the garden on Ferry Street). All are welcome to attend a reception after the service. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Memorial Garden. Reverend Bradley Pace, Rector, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Bryan’s honor to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
