Bonnie J. Snouwaert, 89, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at IU Arnett Hospital. She was born December 9, 1928, in Rossville to the late Harold and Sylvia Gochenour Frey. Bonnie graduated from Rossville High School and had worked for the Monon Railroad prior to her marriage.
She married Edward Snouwaert on December 12, 1951 in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2008. Bonnie was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and volunteered at the Baby Corner at the Riggs Community Health Center for over 20 years. She enjoyed yard work and gardening.
Surviving are her daughters Peggy (Steven) Downham of Lafayette, Lynn (Mark) Dillman of Indianapolis, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother Emmett (Pat) Frey of Rossville and a sister Thelma Whitehead of Lafayette. Bonnie was preceded in death by her son Steven Snouwaert in 2001.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Father Dominic Young officiating. Interment will be at St Mary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Baby Corner at the Riggs Community Health Center, Wea Township Fire Department or Matthew 25 Share and Care at St Ann Catholic Church.
